Arunachal Pradesh Welcomes Global Travelers with Its Birdwatching Tower

Arunachal Pradesh has taken a significant step to promote wildlife tourism and conservation with the inauguration of a new birdwatching tower in Borguli village, located along the banks of the Siang River in the East Siang district. Situated near the D. Ering Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary, the tower is set to enhance the region’s appeal to birdwatchers and eco-tourists alike.

Built by the Ratan Welfare Society under the Mission Ta:tang and Eco-Clean Mebo Mission, the birdwatching tower aims to attract both domestic and international enthusiasts. Its strategic location offers visitors an opportunity to observe the region’s diverse bird species, including the critically endangered Bengal Florican.

The initiative highlights the potential of eco-tourism to support conservation efforts while fostering sustainable development. The project is also anticipated to create employment opportunities for local youth, benefiting the community economically while encouraging the preservation of the area’s unique biodiversity.

Suggestions have been made to further develop eco-tourism activities in the area, such as boating and fishing, to enhance visitor experiences and solidify Borguli as a prime destination for wildlife tourism. Community participation is seen as a vital component of these efforts, ensuring that conservation goals align with the livelihoods and traditions of the local population.

This project is a shining example of how eco-tourism can serve as a tool for conservation while empowering local communities and preserving the natural heritage of the region.
