Minister Counselor for Public Diplomacy at the US Embassy in New Delhi Gloria Berbena reiterated America’s interest in focusing on educational and cultural exchange programmes, as well as funding NGOs, individuals, and organisations focused on researching and documenting cultural and traditional values.
Interacting with the media at Hotel Vivor here on Tuesday, she observed that the existing Fulbright scholarship remained largely unknown to many in the Northeast, expressing hope that more individuals from Nagaland would take advantage of the opportunity, and engage in cultural and student exchange programmes.
She said the primary goal of partnering with Nagaland was to foster a better understanding and knowledge of each other, maintaining that the collaboration presented an opportunity to learn, share, and experience each other’s cultural values while exploring mutual benefits.
Highlighting numerous potential business opportunities, she said many in the US were interested in investing and starting operations in Nagaland, adding that the consulate aimed to identify areas where support could be provided.
Berbena disclosed that they were actively collaborating with institutions to facilitate cultural and student exchanges, and had received positive feedback from participants.
She also shared her enthusiasm after meeting the Youth Net team, expressing her delight in discovering talents in the Naga society.
She highlighted the importance of such programmes in fostering understanding and mutual support, stating that she would share these insights with her office to explore how growth of entrepreneurs could be assisted.
Praising Youth Net for its commendable efforts, she noted that the group not only supported new entrepreneurs but also provided valuable networking opportunities and expertise to help them grow their businesses.
